Featuring the documentary Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Young Christian barrister, filmmaker and refugee advocate Jessie Taylor seeks to answer the question ‘what turns a person into a boat person?’ Jessie filmed asylum seekers in detention centres across Indonesia to hear their stories. Jessie was featured on a recent ‘Australian Story’ program. There will also be a panel discussion with the team who visits Villawood Detention Centre. The evening will commence with a sausage sizzle at 6pm. Adults $10, students and concession $5. Money raised will go towards supporting the financial needs of refugees in the community.
